We’ve all been there. We wake up, look in the mirror, and go into a panic wondering why our skin is suddenly dry, dull, or full of blemishes even after a full night of sleep. “How can that be possible?” we ask ourselves.
This is where DIY face mask comes in!
When we want clearer skin, a common beauty rule of thumb is to be conscious about what we are putting into our bodies. Beauty blog after beauty blog stresses the importance of increasing your water intake to flush out toxins or incorporating more vitamin-rich foods into our daily diets to combat skin concerns. So why are we spending so much money booking appointments at spas or shopping in the face mask aisle at Sephora when these essential ingredients are in the room right next door?
If these foods are crucial to our diets, why are we not using them to make a natural DIY face mask and let them absorb into our skin?
If you’re anything like me, you become overwhelmed trying to identify which face mask is best for you and your needs – there are sheet masks, charcoal masks, clay masks, peel-off masks, the options are never-ending.
You can eliminate all that stress with a simple DIY face mask.
You don’t need to empty your wallet from getting a spa treatment or buying face masks after face masks at your favorite beauty store. You don’t need to harm your skin with ingredients and chemicals you don’t recognize on various face mask labels. Natural DIY face masks made a splash when the pandemic first hit, but there’s no reason we need to go back to our ways before the pandemic. You can pamper yourself right at home – it’s cheaper than a facial, doesn’t require an appointment, gives our skin a much-needed break from harmful chemicals in over-the-counter products, and is fun to mix up!
During the summer months, we all share one thing in common. Our skin begins to beg us for the hydration and nourishment that the summer sun takes away. Our below recipe for a replenishing natural DIY face mask is focused on combating the sun’s drying effects on your skin. Focused on hydrating, nourishing, and locking in moisture (and only requiring 3 ingredients!), you’ll want to make this a weekly staple all summer long. I have no doubt your skin will thank you!
All you need is:
- 1 tbsp of honey
- Half of an avocado
- A handful of oats or oat bran
Mix the 3 ingredients together in a bowl, and put it on your skin for 10 to 30 minutes, and rinse off after with water. This DIY face mask can be used 2 to 3 times a week, depending on your skin.
Honey helps retain and locks the moisture in your skin, and it also helps soothe and heal damaged skin. Avocados are a great staple for DIY face masks, it also helps hydrate and moisture the face. Lastly, oats as known as the natural cleanser, soak up the excess oil on your skin and help get rid of dry skin. These 3 combined is a perfect DIY face mask recipe for hydrating and moisturizing your skin.
